Another wonderful issue of Owensboro Parent magazine! Editors and contributors have provided so much awesome information on a variety of topics … and this month, I simply couldn’t pick just one to focus on!

Whether you participated in the survey or not, it’s always so much fun to browse through these categories and see if other readers’ choices match your own opinions.
This year’s ballot is especially interesting, because for the first time, kids were invited to cast their votes as part of classroom activities at their schools! I know I am interested to see what they rank as our hometown’s best pancakes, spray park, doughnuts and so much more … and compare that to what my own grandkids tell me they like best.
But it’s not just about “winning.”
The important thing to remember is that Owensboro/Daviess County offers so many wonderful options in all these areas – dining, child care and education, activities, health and wellness, shopping, the arts, local love – and there really is something for everyone. Every single one of those “somethings” is someone’s favorite!
We ALL win, thanks to the hundreds of dedicated people who bring their passions to life in all these areas.
So congratulations to all the winners, everyone who was nominated – and also to everyone who is just here doing their good work in our hometown every single day. We love and appreciate you all.
FALL FAMILY FUN
I don’t care what Andy Williams says, autumn is the most wonderful time of the year! (Google him, kids.) Especially autumn in Owensboro, where fall festivals and seasonal celebrations swirl around us like brightly colored leaves falling from a tree on a windy day.
Whether it’s Friday night lights in your favorite high school football stadium, or browsing crafts and kitsch, just being outdoors on a crisp, cool afternoon under blue skies and scuttling clouds, or hiking through a corn maze or picking out the perfect pumpkin, or cuddling up in a cozy sweater with the first spiced cider or hot cocoa of the season, every family can find its own kind of fun in the fall.
This year, Owensboro Parent has rounded up information on nearly three dozen seasonal activities and special events, from fall festivals to haunted Halloween happenings.
