The 10th Annual Buffalo Paintout and Gala, an en plein air event, will be presented Sept. 27-29 in Owensboro, KY. The three-day event will be highlighted by an exhibition and artists’ reception at the museum on Saturday, September 29, where Merit and Purchase Awards will be presented for winning entries during the museum’s annual Buffalo Festival Gala, 6:30 PM-8:30 PM. Cost is $50 per person.

“Voices of Elmwood” is a celebration of history, designed to honor our region’s heritage and the lives of the many people buried at Owensboro’s Elmwood Cemetery. The 11th Annual Voices of Elmwood will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, beginning the evening of September 20, 2018 and will run for a total of nine evenings in September and October.
Wagon and tent performances begin at 6:00 p.m. each evening, with the last wagon leaving at 9:00 p.m. each night. Each wagon features bench seating with back supports. Tent shows, perfect for large church groups, supper clubs, tour buses or patrons preferring not to ride in the wagons, will be offered on October 4th, 5th and 6th, and will begin at 6:00 p.m. The tours last about an hour and are not recommended for children under 12 years of age. Patrons should arrive fifteen minutes prior to their wagon’s departure or tent show performance.
Over seventy-five community volunteers help create and present Voices of Elmwood, which is hosted by Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery, Elmwood Cemetery is located at 1300 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, Kentucky, 42303 and parking is available on site.
Bluegrass on the Banks
Second & Fourth Thursdays, May 24 – September 28, 2018
The series will showcase a variety of bluegrass music on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from May through September, and some extras Fridays in September. Performances will be from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Smothers Park Overlook Stage at the north end of Frederica. This is a free event!

Live-Free Bluegrass Music every Friday night first of April till Mid-December in Rosine, KY, hometown of Bill Monroe, “the Father of Bluegrass” born in Rosine and buried in the Rosine Cemetery around the corner from the barn. Admission is free, musicians aren’t paid and bags of popcorn cost $1. Bring your lawn chairs or get there early. Three shows nightly, many nights there are “special guests” dropping in to pick and play! Bring your fiddle, banjo, mandolin or come to listen to the best of “Bluegrass”!
