Hi my name is Bronwyn Stiff and I’m going to tell you some facts about my hometown, Owensboro, Kentucky. In Owensboro we have the Bluegrass Museum that has a lot of bluegrass instruments and history behind bluegrass music. For example, it has information like how bluegrass originated in Kentucky. Owensboro has the River Park Center where famous plays like The Nutcracker happen. The River Park Center also does field trips and offers a bunch of fun activities to the schools. Owensboro has a park called Smothers Park. It is a nice place for strolls, picnics, and birthday parties. It’s also a fun place to hang out by the Ohio River. Smothers Park also holds a block party type thing called “Friday After Five.” There are food trucks and fun toys along with jewelry sold there. Here in Owensboro, Kentucky, we also have an air show and bridge day. The air show is where we get to watch different types of planes, jets, and helicopters fly. Bridge Day is where we walk the bridge. You are not required to walk the whole thing. It’s just a fun thing that we do with the Blue Bridge. Kentucky in general also has some famous singers like Lorretta Lynn. If you don’t know her, you might know one of her songs like Fist City or Coal Miner’s Daughter. Kentucky and Owensboro are also famous for our bourbon, burgoo and coal. If you like barbecue, come down to Owensboro. We are also known for our scenic beauty. The river and the trees are beautiful especially in the fall. If you like or want to see any of this come to Owensboro because that’s where it is.
