First Class Glass: American Glass Whimsies and 20th C. Studio Art Glass Exhibit

First Class Glass, two centuries of art rendered in glass will open at the Owensboro Museum of Fine Art, Saturday, April 28. The exhibition features an important collection of 267 glass objects created by master glassblowers of the mid-19th century call “glass whimsies”. Made in Lockport and Lancaster, New York between 1840 and 1880, the collection was amassed by a New York family in the 1950’s and ultimately purchased by an Owensboro resident for the local museum.
The exhibit will continue through July 16. Museum’s hours are Tuesday -Friday from Noon to 5PM and Saturday/Sunday 1PM-4PM. Admission is FREE although voluntary donations are requested of $3 for adults and $2 for children. Parking with access for physically challenged is provided at the Atrium entrance on 9th Street parking lot.
